Air Source Heat Pumps

ASHP are proven technology that have been around for years. Heat pumps simply replace existing gas and oil boilers and connect to existing heating and hot water systems. It could possibly run an existing radiator set up and can link to underfloor heating. We can advise on this.

Air Source Heat Pumps have many advantages over traditional boiler systems:

  • Uses renewable energy source 3-5 times more efficient
  • 30 - 50% reduction in CO2 emissions
  • Low running and maintenance costs
  • Low noise and unobtrusive and easy to install
  • No ground work for off gas grid properties
  • Reduces Carbon Emissions to Zero Depending on your choice of heat pump.

Installing heat pumps and renewable systems puts you ahead of the legislation. If you come to sell a home or business premises, it will be far more attractive to purchasers.

What is an Air-Source Heat Pump (ASHP)?

Also known as an Air-to-Water Heat Pump, the Air-Source Heat Pump is a device that uses energy in the air to boil a refrigerant by passing air across an evaporator. The heat pump looks very similar to a traditional Air Conditioning unit.

What types of Air-Source Heat Pump do PPT install?

There are two main types of ASHP: Monobloc and Split system.

Monobloc heat pumps

The whole heat pump is enclosed within the casing. The heat pump is generally fitted on an outside wall with clear air flow across it. It can come in various power outputs; and some models are single-fan units while others are twin-fan units. The unit is fitted onto rubber feet. Twin 28mm Flow and Return pipes enter the building and connect into the central heating system.

Split system heat pumps

The system is split with the outdoor evaporator being connected to the indoor unit with two pipes, one for gas refrigerant and one for liquid refrigerant. The outdoor unit can be located up to 20m away from the indoor unit. These systems are desirable if the customer doesn’t want the evaporator near the house or doesn’t have any suitable space.

High Temp heat pumps

With water temperatures unto 80 oC the Hitachi Yukaki is a class of its own as true boiler replacement technology. As with the split system R32 refrigerant links the 2 heat pumps (indoor and outdoor) together.
